DAY 1. Origin Airport – Rome Airport – Rome
Arrival at the origin airport to catch our flight to Rome. Upon arrival, we will transfer to Rome for an overview of the city. At the designated time, we will check into our hotel. Dinner. Overnight in Rome.
DAY 2. Ancient Rome; Colosseum and Forums. Baroque Rome; Squares and Fountains
Today we will dedicate the day to visit classical Rome, the Colosseum, and the Imperial Forums. Through them, we can admire the city that created a great Empire. We will end the day by strolling through the main squares of the city center, such as Piazza Navona, Spanish Steps, or Trevi Fountain. Full board. Overnight in Rome.
DAY 3. Vatican; Museums and St. Peter’s Basilica. Basilicas of St. John Lateran and Santa Maria Maggiore. Trastevere
In the morning, we will go to the Vatican to visit the Vatican Museums, where the Popes have preserved the greatest works of art of all time. The highlight of the visit to the Museums is the Sistine Chapel, linked to the name of the great Michelangelo. We will also visit the interior of St. Peter’s Basilica. In the afternoon, we will visit two of the major basilicas in the city. One of them is St. John Lateran, the oldest in the Western world and the Cathedral of Rome. We will visit the interior of the Basilica, the Baptistery, and the complex of the Sancta Sanctorum and the Scala Santa. Afterwards, we will go to the Papal Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore, the first church dedicated to Marian worship, which according to tradition preserves the manger where Jesus was born. In the evening, we will move to Trastevere to enjoy this typical Roman neighborhood. Full board. Overnight in Rome.
DAY 4. Rome – Assisi – Rome
After breakfast, we will transfer to the birthplace of Saint Francis of Assisi. The beautiful Umbrian town of Assisi. There we will discover the Santa Maria degli Angeli, a basilica built in the 16th century by A. Alessi which houses the “Porziuncola” and also the Basilica of San Francesco: Upper Basilica with frescoes by Cimabue and Giotto; Lower Basilica with Cloister and Tomb of the Saint. Lunch. After lunch, we will continue with the visits to the city to admire the cathedral of San Rufino and the Basilica of Santa Chiara. In the afternoon, at the designated time, return to Rome for dinner and accommodation. Full board. Overnight in Rome.
DAY 5. Rome; Audience with the Pope, Catacombs, and St. Paul Outside the Walls
In the morning, we will attend the Audience with the Pope. In the afternoon, we will visit the Catacombs of San Callisto, one of the ancient cemeteries of Rome where there are Christian burials with the earliest manifestations of the symbolism and art of the new religion. It also takes us back to the early days of Christianity and persecutions. Then, we will continue to St. Paul Outside the Walls. Full board. Overnight in Rome.
DAY 6. Rome – Origin Airport
After breakfast, at the designated time, we will transfer to the airport for our flight. Arrival at the origin airport. End of the trip and our services.
