St. Teresa & the Spiritual Heart of Spain

A Catholic Pilgrimage Through Castile & Extremadura

11 Days / 9 Nights | Spain | Ávila, Salamanca, Guadalupe, Toledo & Madrid

Walk in the Footsteps of St. Teresa Through the Heart of Spain

Journey into the spiritual heart of Spain on a pilgrimage following the life and legacy of St. Teresa of Jesus (St. Teresa of Ávila), one of the great mystics, reformers and Doctors of the Church.

Born within the medieval walls of Ávila in 1515, Teresa’s extraordinary spiritual journey would transform the Carmelite Order and leave a legacy that continues to inspire the universal Church.

Our pilgrimage takes us through the landscapes that shaped her story: from Ávila, where she was born and lived much of her religious life, to Alba de Tormes, where she died and where her tomb and relics are venerated, and Salamanca, where she established another of her Carmelite foundations.

But our journey extends beyond Teresa.

We will travel through the historic heartlands of Castile and Extremadura, discovering some of Spain’s great centers of Catholic faith and pilgrimage: the mountain Sanctuary of Our Lady of Peña de Francia, the magnificent Royal Monastery of Guadalupe, the ancient Christian heritage of Toledo, and the Cathedral of Our Lady of Almudena in Madrid.

Along the way, we will encounter medieval cities, UNESCO World Heritage Sites, magnificent cathedrals, centuries of sacred art and some of the landscapes, traditions and cultural treasures that make Spain one of Europe’s most fascinating destinations.

Designed especially for parishes, Catholic communities and faith-based groups, this pilgrimage combines faith, history, culture and fellowship while providing opportunities for the celebration of the Eucharist, prayer and spiritual reflection throughout our journey.

More Than a Journey Through Spain

Spain’s cities, cathedrals, monasteries and ancient landscapes tell a story that stretches across centuries.

But pilgrimage invites us to go deeper.

In Ávila, we encounter the world that formed St. Teresa of Jesus.

In Alba de Tormes, we pray where her earthly journey came to an end.

In the mountains of Peña de Francia and at Guadalupe, we encounter centuries of devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary.

And in Salamanca, Toledo and Madrid, we discover how faith, history, art and culture have shaped the identity of Spain.

Throughout the journey, we celebrate the Eucharist, pray together and share the experience as a community.

Following the example of St. Teresa, this pilgrimage ultimately invites us not simply to discover beautiful places, but to continue our own interior journey toward Christ.
