Day 1: ORIGIN AIRPORT – ZAGREB
Meet at the origin airport to catch our flight to Zagreb. Arrival at Zagreb International Airport. After collecting our luggage, we will transfer to the city. Guided tour of Zagreb with a local guide. You will explore the upper city, the historic area, and the lower city, the more modern area with buildings from the Austro-Hungarian Empire era, including numerous museums and shopping centers. Transfer to the hotel. Dinner. Overnight in Zagreb.
Day 2: ZAGREB – PLITVICE
In the morning, we will depart for Plitvice to visit Plitvice Lakes National Park (entrance fee included). It is Croatia’s most famous national park and its only natural phenomenon listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The most attractive feature is its 16 lakes connected by waterfalls, cascades, and streams formed by the sedimentation action of a special type of limestone called travertine. The Plitvice Lakes complex is divided into two parts: the Upper Lakes, with large dimensions, forested falls, and soft cascades, and the Lower Lakes, smaller and located in a steep and rocky canyon. During the park visit, we will walk part of the route on wooden walkways connecting waterfalls and lakes, and we can also use a wooden boat or a small train to explore some of its fantastic areas. Day 3: PLITVICE – ZADAR – SIBENIK – SPLIT AREA
In the morning, we will leave Plitvice towards Split. On the way, we will visit the beautiful cities of Zadar and Sibenik. Our first stop will be Zadar, the administrative, tourist, and cultural center of the Dalmatia region. We will visit the old town accompanied by a local guide, including the Church of St. Donatus (entrance fee), one of the city’s symbols. Lunch at a local restaurant. Afterward, we will head to Sibenik; this town played a very important military and strategic role in the struggles that the Croats maintained at sea against Byzantium, the Ottoman Empire, and the Venetian Republic. Upon arrival, we will visit the city, where we will explore its center, highlighting one of the most important buildings, the Cathedral of St. James (entrance fee), an impressive construction with an artistic style resulting from the significant exchanges in the area of monumental art between northern Italy, Dalmatia, and Tuscany in the 15th and 16th centuries, and both for its beauty and the architectural solutions used in its construction, it was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2001. After the visit, transfer to the hotel. Full board. Overnight in the Split area.
Day 4: SPLIT – TROGIR – SPLIT
In the morning, we will have a half-day visit to Split, the capital of Dalmatia and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Guided tour of the old city, the remains of Diocletian’s Palace (entrance fee), the Cathedral of Saint Duje, and the Temple of Jupiter (entrance fee). Lunch. In the afternoon, we will visit the beautiful city of Trogir. The city is located on an island barely separated from the mainland, of Gothic-Romanesque style that dates back to when a Greek colony was established there. The surprising thing is that over the centuries the city has grown and changed, but always keeping a Hellenistic urban plan. For this reason, medieval Trogir was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Walled, white, and shiny (its streets are paved with marble), full of palaces, towers, noble houses, and endearing Romanesque churches. After the visit, return to Split. Full board. Day 5: SPLIT – MEDJUGORJE
In the morning, we will leave Split (Croatia) to head to Medjugorje (Bosnia and Herzegovina). Upon arrival, lunch at a local restaurant. In the afternoon, visit the Sanctuary of the Virgin of Medjugorje. According to accounts, the Virgin appeared in this same place to six children on June 24, 1981. More than 20 million people have visited this place in the last 20 years. Full board. Overnight in Medjugorje.
Day 6: MEDJUGORJE – STON – DUBROVNIK
In the morning, we will return to Croatia, with a stop in the town of Ston, famous on the Adriatic for its long defensive walls and its oyster and mussel farms. After a stop to visit the town, lunch at a local restaurant. We will continue to Dubrovnik, arriving in the early afternoon. After check-in, we will head to the center to have a first contact with this beautiful walled city. Full board. Overnight in Dubrovnik.
Day 7: DUBROVNIK
In the morning, guided tour of the city of Dubrovnik, the famous “Pearl of the Adriatic”, with a local guide. The old city, also declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site, surrounded by 1490 meters of long Gothic and Renaissance walls, contains numerous churches, Renaissance palaces, built in the 16th century. A masterpiece of the Renaissance that also served as a defense for the citizens is Minceta, the largest tower on the continental side of the Dubrovnik wall, and the best-preserved in Europe. During the city tour, we will include the interior visit of the Franciscan Monastery with its old pharmacy (entrance fee). Free afternoon. Full board. Overnight in Dubrovnik.
Day 8: DUBROVNIK – ORIGIN AIRPORT
Breakfast at the hotel. At the scheduled time, transfer to the airport with the guide to take the flight back to the origin airport. Arrival. End of the trip and our services.
