Our pilgrimage is centered in Santa Fe — “Holy Faith” — and reaches into some of the most spiritually significant places of northern New Mexico: Chimayó, Abiquiú, Taos, Albuquerque and historic mission communities. The source itinerary is built around Santa Fe, Chimayó, Acoma Pueblo, Laguna and Ranchos de Taos, making the region’s Spanish and Native Catholic heritage the core of the journey.
We will pray at the Cathedral Basilica of St. Francis of Assisi, visit the famous Loretto Chapel, journey to El Santuario de Chimayó, encounter Benedictine monastic life at Christ in the Desert, explore some of the oldest Catholic churches in the United States, and experience the extraordinary culture of the pueblos and missions of the Southwest.

DAY 1 — Arrival in New Mexico Albuquerque • Santa Fe
Arrival at Albuquerque International Sunport, where we meet our local team and begin our journey north toward Santa Fe.
The name itself prepares us for pilgrimage:
Santa Fe — Holy Faith.
After arrival at the hotel, time to settle in and rest.
Whenever arrangements permit, we celebrate our opening Holy Mass, offering the intentions we carry with us and entrusting the days ahead to God.
The source itinerary likewise begins with arrival in Albuquerque followed by transfer to Santa Fe for Mass, dinner and overnight.

DAY 2 — St. Joseph & the Desert Loretto Chapel • Abiquiú • Christ in the Desert
Our pilgrimage begins in the historic heart of Santa Fe at the famous Loretto Chapel.
Here we encounter the celebrated Miraculous Staircase, traditionally associated by the Sisters of Loretto with the intercession of St. Joseph.
The circumstances of its construction gave rise to a long devotional tradition surrounding the mysterious carpenter who built it.
Rather than treating the staircase merely as an architectural curiosity, we approach it as a reminder of something deeply Catholic:
St. Joseph is the quiet guardian of the hidden life of Christ — and a patron of trust when we do not yet see the solution.
We then travel north into the extraordinary landscapes around Abiquiú.
Our destination is the Monastery of Christ in the Desert, a Benedictine monastery set in one of the most beautiful and remote landscapes of New Mexico.
The contrast is striking.
After the legend and craftsmanship of Loretto, we enter a place of monastic silence.
The community follows the Rule of St. Benedict, offering us an opportunity to reflect on prayer, simplicity and listening.

DAY 3 — Catholic Santa Fe Cathedral • San Miguel • Guadalupe
Today is devoted to the spiritual heart of Santa Fe.
We visit the Cathedral Basilica of St. Francis of Assisi, mother church of the Archdiocese of Santa Fe.
Whenever possible, we celebrate Holy Mass here.
We continue through the city’s Catholic heritage with San Miguel Mission, traditionally recognized among the oldest surviving church structures in the continental United States.
We then visit Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe, one of Santa Fe’s historic Marian shrines.
For many Hispanic Catholics of the Southwest, devotion to Our Lady of Guadalupe has been a powerful expression of faith and identity across generations.
We also visit the Cross of the Martyrs, overlooking Santa Fe and recalling the complex and often painful history of the region.

DAY 4 — Chimayó The Lourdes of America
Today we travel to one of the most beloved Catholic pilgrimage sites in the United States:
El Santuario de Chimayó
For generations, pilgrims have come here to pray for healing, give thanks and seek God’s grace.
The sanctuary is associated with devotion to Our Lord of Esquipulas, and pilgrims are especially drawn to the small room containing the earth popularly called “holy dirt.”
Countless families have preserved stories of prayer, healing and thanksgiving connected with this place.
We approach these traditions with the same spirit that should guide every pilgrimage:
not superstition, but trust in God and prayer through the communion of saints.
Whenever local schedules allow, we celebrate Holy Mass at the sanctuary.
We also visit the nearby Santo Niño Chapel, another important expression of local Catholic devotion.
After Chimayó, we continue toward Albuquerque, where we visit historic San Felipe de Neri Church in Old Town and enjoy a walking tour through one of the city’s oldest neighborhoods.

DAY 5 — Taos & Native Catholic Heritage Taos Pueblo • Ranchos de Taos
Today we encounter one of the most important dimensions of this pilgrimage:
the relationship between Native American cultures and Catholic Christianity.
We travel toward Taos Pueblo, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the most remarkable living communities of the American Southwest.
Here we visit the Chapel of St. Jerome, where Catholic faith exists within a Native cultural context shaped by centuries of encounter, continuity, conflict and adaptation.
A pilgrimage here should not reduce the story to either triumph or tragedy.
It is a place where the history of mission, colonialism, Indigenous resilience and genuine Christian faith all intersect.
We later continue to Ranchos de Taos, visiting the celebrated San Francisco de Asís Mission Church, one of the most iconic adobe churches in the United States.
Its simple architecture seems almost to rise directly from the earth.

Our final full day broadens the pilgrimage into the history and culture that surrounded Catholic life in the Southwest.
We visit El Rancho de las Golondrinas, a living history museum preserving aspects of daily life in Spanish colonial and territorial New Mexico.
Traditional crafts, agriculture, domestic life and historic buildings help us understand the world in which many Catholic families of the region lived and practiced their faith.
We then return to the Cathedral Basilica of St. Francis of Assisi, where, according to availability, we celebrate our final Holy Mass.
The afternoon may also include the Georgia O’Keeffe Museum and additional time to explore Santa Fe on foot.
Art, landscape and faith come together particularly naturally here.

DAY 7 — Santa Fe • Albuquerque • Return Home
After breakfast, we depart Santa Fe and transfer to Albuquerque International Sunport for our return flights.
We leave New Mexico having encountered a Catholic story written not in monumental European cathedrals, but in adobe, desert, mountains, pueblo communities, chapels and family devotions.
The landscape itself seems to remind us:
faith does not need grandeur to be profound.
It needs roots.
