A Journey Through the Great Shrines of Western Europe
This pilgrimage brings together some of the most beloved Catholic destinations in Spain, France and Portugal.
We begin in Barcelona, where sacred art and architecture culminate in the extraordinary Basilica of the Sagrada Família.
From there, we pilgrimage to the mountain sanctuary of Montserrat, home to the ancient Black Madonna, before crossing the Pyrenees toward Lourdes, where Our Lady appeared to St. Bernadette in 1858.
Returning to Spain, we continue to Zaragoza, where ancient tradition associates the Basilica of Our Lady of the Pillar with an apparition of the Blessed Virgin Mary to St. James the Apostle.
Our journey then takes us to Madrid and into the spiritual heart of Castile, including Ávila, city of St. Teresa of Jesus, and Salamanca, one of Spain’s great historic university cities.
Finally, we cross into Portugal and arrive at Fátima, where the Blessed Virgin Mary appeared to the three shepherd children in 1917 with a message of prayer, conversion and peace.
This is a pilgrimage of Mary, saints, sacred art, culture and prayer — ideal for parishes and Catholic groups seeking a complete introduction to the spiritual heart of Spain, Lourdes and Fátima.
A Marian Journey Across Three Countries
What gives this pilgrimage its unity is Mary’s presence throughout the journey.
At Montserrat, we encounter a centuries-old Black Madonna.
At Lourdes, we remember Our Lady’s apparitions to St. Bernadette.
At Zaragoza, we discover the ancient tradition of Our Lady of the Pillar and St. James the Apostle.
At Fátima, we hear again Mary’s call to prayer, conversion and peace.
These shrines developed in different centuries and cultures, but each invites the pilgrim toward the same destination:
Jesus Christ.
Mary never draws attention to herself alone.
She leads us toward her Son.
That is the spiritual thread connecting the entire route.
St. Teresa, St. James & the Saints of the Journey
The pilgrimage also brings us into contact with some of the great saints of the Catholic tradition.
In Zaragoza, St. James the Apostle reminds us of the Church’s missionary vocation.
In Ávila, St. Teresa of Jesus invites us toward deeper interior prayer.
In Lourdes, St. Bernadette teaches humility and trust.
And in Fátima, Sts. Francisco and Jacinta Marto remind us that holiness is not reserved for the powerful or the old.
Together, they turn this journey into more than a tour of Marian shrines.
It becomes an invitation to live the faith more deeply.

Proposed Itinerary
Day 1 — USA – Barcelona
Our Pilgrimage Begins
At the appropriate time, we meet at our designated U.S. departure airport and board our overnight transatlantic flight to Barcelona, Spain.
Meals and refreshments will be served according to the airline’s schedule.
Overnight flight to Europe.
Day 2 — Arrival in Barcelona
Welcome to Spain
Upon arrival in Barcelona, we will be welcomed by our local team and transferred to our hotel.
The remainder of the day will be intentionally relaxed after the international journey.
Depending on arrival time, we may enjoy an introductory panoramic visit, celebrate our opening Holy Mass, or simply have time to rest before beginning the pilgrimage in earnest.

Day 3 — Barcelona
Sagrada Família & the Christian Art of Barcelona
After breakfast, we begin our exploration of Barcelona.
The spiritual and artistic centerpiece of the day will be the magnificent Basilica of the Sagrada Família, Antoni Gaudí’s extraordinary unfinished masterpiece.
More than an architectural icon, the basilica is a profound expression of Christian theology through stone, light, sculpture and symbolism.
We then continue to Park Güell, where Gaudí’s distinctive imagination can be experienced in another setting.
After lunch, we explore the Gothic Quarter, with the historic Cathedral at its heart, before continuing toward Las Ramblas and some of the city’s most famous streets and plazas.
Depending on arrangements, Holy Mass may be incorporated during the day.

Day 4 — Barcelona – Montserrat – Lourdes
Our Lady of Montserrat
After breakfast, we leave Barcelona and travel toward the spectacular mountain sanctuary of Montserrat.
Here we will visit the Benedictine monastery and Basilica, home to the venerated image of Our Lady of Montserrat, the Black Madonna affectionately known as La Moreneta.
For centuries, pilgrims have climbed to Montserrat seeking Mary’s intercession and experiencing the remarkable combination of monastic prayer, mountain landscape and Marian devotion.
Subject to arrangements, we may celebrate Holy Mass at the sanctuary.
We then continue north, crossing the Pyrenees into France and arriving at Lourdes.

Day 5 — Lourdes
Our Lady of Lourdes
Today is dedicated entirely to Lourdes.
We begin at the Grotto of Massabielle, where the Blessed Virgin appeared to St. Bernadette Soubirous in 1858.
We will have time to pray at the Grotto and discover the principal sacred spaces of the sanctuary, including the Basilica of the Rosary and the underground Basilica of St. Pius X.
Depending on the official sanctuary schedule, the day may include Holy Mass, the Rosary, Eucharistic devotions, the baths or water gesture, the Way of the Cross and the evening candlelight procession.
The day is intentionally designed to give pilgrims time not simply to visit Lourdes, but to live the sanctuary as a place of prayer.

Overnight: Lourdes
Day 6 — Lourdes – Zaragoza
Our Lady of the Pillar
After breakfast, we leave Lourdes and return to Spain.
Our destination is Zaragoza, one of the great Catholic cities of the Iberian Peninsula.
Here we visit the magnificent Basilica of Our Lady of the Pillar.
According to ancient Christian tradition, the Blessed Virgin Mary appeared here to St. James the Greater while he was evangelizing in Hispania, encouraging him in his mission.
We will have time for prayer before the Holy Pillar and, subject to arrangements, celebrate Holy Mass.
We may also visit La Seo Cathedral, another of Zaragoza’s principal religious monuments.

Day 7 — Zaragoza – Madrid
Spain’s Capital
After breakfast, we travel toward Madrid.
Upon arrival, we begin our discovery of the Spanish capital with the magnificent Royal Palace and the nearby Cathedral of Santa María la Real de la Almudena, dedicated to the patroness of Madrid.
Depending on schedules and availability, our program may include an interior visit to the Royal Palace.
We continue through historic Madrid, including Plaza Mayor, and later visit the Prado Museum, one of the great art collections of the world, with masterpieces by Velázquez, Goya, El Greco and other major European artists.

Day 8 — Madrid
Art, Culture & Catholic Madrid
Today we continue exploring Madrid.
Our program may begin with a visit to Retiro Park, one of the city’s most beautiful public spaces.
We may then visit the Reina Sofía Museum, whose collections focus on modern and contemporary Spanish art.
Later, we continue toward Puerta del Sol, Gran Vía and other iconic areas of central Madrid.
For groups wishing for a stronger spiritual focus, the day can be adapted with additional Catholic sites, Holy Mass, Eucharistic Adoration or a spiritual conference.
Time may also be provided for shopping and independent exploration.

Overnight: Madrid
Day 9 — Madrid – Ávila – Salamanca
St. Teresa of Jesus
After breakfast, we leave Madrid and travel toward Ávila, one of Spain’s great spiritual cities.
Ávila is forever associated with St. Teresa of Jesus, the Carmelite reformer, mystic and Doctor of the Church.
We will explore the medieval walls and historic center and may visit the Cathedral, together with additional Teresian sites according to the final program.
For groups especially interested in St. Teresa, possibilities may include the Monastery of the Incarnation, the Convent of St. Joseph or other places associated with her life and spirituality.
After lunch, we continue toward Salamanca.
Upon arrival, we will discover the historic University, Plaza Mayor and the remarkable architectural heritage of the city.

Overnight: Salamanca
Day 10 — Salamanca – Fátima
Arrival at Fátima
After breakfast, we leave Spain and cross into Portugal toward Fátima.
Upon arrival, we begin our encounter with the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Fátima.
We will visit the Chapel of the Apparitions, the spiritual heart of the sanctuary, and the Basilica of Our Lady of the Rosary, where Sts. Francisco and Jacinta Marto are buried.
We may also visit the modern Basilica of the Most Holy Trinity.
Depending on timing, we may begin or complete portions of the Via Sacra, including the Hungarian Calvary.

Overnight: Fátima
Day 11 — Fátima
A Full Day with Our Lady
Today we remain in Fátima, allowing the group to experience the sanctuary in a more prayerful way.
We will celebrate or attend Holy Mass and have time for personal prayer at the Chapel of the Apparitions.
Depending on the final program, we may visit the Fátima Museum, continue the Via Sacra, or travel to Aljustrel, the nearby village associated with the shepherd children.
The afternoon may include free time for Confession, prayer, devotion or quiet reflection.
Depending on the sanctuary schedule, pilgrims may also have the opportunity to participate in the evening Rosary and candlelight procession.

Overnight: Fátima
Day 12 — Fátima – Lisbon – USA
Return Home
After breakfast, we say farewell to Fátima and transfer toward Lisbon International Airport for our return flight to the United States.
Depending on flight schedules, a brief panoramic introduction to Lisbon may be possible before airport transfer.
We return home after a pilgrimage that has brought us from the sacred art of Barcelona to the mountain sanctuary of Montserrat, from Lourdes and Zaragoza to the spirituality of St. Teresa, and finally to the message of prayer and conversion at Fátima.
Arrival in the United States and end of our pilgrimage services.
